Pour Un Homme Renaissance

Pour Un Homme Renaissance draws a new balance, the portrait of a man who is both elevated and anchored. Warmly distant.

A WAY OF BEING IN THE WORLD

A WAY OF BEING IN THE WORLD

His gaze is precise, inhabited by a depth that seems to travel through time. Within it, one senses the memory of centuries.
As though moving forward with an awareness of what has been and what remains to be built, he belongs to no era. He moves through the present with evident tranquility, carrying within him the heritage of the past and the momentum of the future. He carries the calm and serenity of one who understands the value of things. He seems to belong to this landscape as much as he reinvents it.
His presence is free, almost raw, yet always true. A frank bearing, a silent assurance: everything about him evokes a man who does not follow his time but inspires it. Far from any nostalgia, he believes that beauty can be reborn, that elegance, thought and craftsmanship always find a new way to express themselves. His mere presence is an invitation to see differently. His strength is revealed in his gaze, his bearing and this singular way of being in the world. He embodies an idea of Europe where art, culture, philosophy and elegance remain living forces.

TRANSMIT, REINVENT

TRANSMIT, REINVENT

In 1934, Ernest Daltroff, perfumer and founder of the House, composed Pour Un Homme, one of the first great modern masculine fragrances, at a time when perfumery was still largely conceived for women. Born of a radical gesture, against the conventions of its time, the fragrance united the vivid freshness of lavender with the enveloping warmth of vanilla, then associated with the feminine olfactory imagination. From this encounter a signature was born: a tension between aromatic freshness and vanilla sweetness that would become, for generations of men, a territory of expression and freedom. Pour Un Homme established itself as a founding model and opened a new path for modern perfumery.

Nearly a century later, Olivia de Rothschild, Artistic Director of Caron, offers a new perspective and reinterprets this audacity. Pour Un Homme Renaissance carries the idea of a passage, a return to what is essential, a breath turned towards creation. "I wanted to bring a new energy, to take part in a creative momentum for Europe. The fragrance carries within it the idea of contributing and creating," says Olivia de Rothschild. A conviction rooted in the history of the continent: "The European Renaissance was a time when curiosity, beauty, craftsmanship, science and the arts engaged in dialogue with exceptional intensity." An invitation to take part in something greater than oneself.

To give form to this intention, Olivia de Rothschild and Louise Turner, Caron's perfumer, explored a palette of materials originating in Europe or connected to its cultural imagination. From this exploration emerged a dialogue rare in perfumery between two ingredients: sage and barley. "Sage has a vegetal clarity, a kind of verticality, as though it strips away the superfluous to return to what is essential," explains Olivia de Rothschild. Barley, meanwhile, "opens onto a broader geography, turning towards the North, towards the East"; it brings us back to the earth, to warmth, to something nourishing. Two opposing yet symbiotic worlds. Placed in tension, they respond to and illuminate one another.

ELEVATED AND GROUNDED

ELEVATED AND GROUNDED

From the opening, fine lavender from Drôme Provençale Orpur® unfolds its aromatic backbone, that emblematic signature which links the fragrance to the original 1934 composition. Its freshness, vivid and floral, blossoms into a soft balsamic roundness. Enriched French clary sage Orpur® blends in, adding dimension. "Sage echoes the freshness of lavender, with a more woody, more textured facet," says Louise Turner. A clear, straightforward freshness.
At the heart, an oak wood accord brings depth and body, while Ambrofix™ envelops it in an amber warmth that extends the trail.

As it unfolds, German roasted barley extract Orpur®, inspired by the art of malting, reveals its full dry, enveloping warmth. "Roasted barley responds to the softness of vanilla, with a cereal-like, nourishing and lightly toasted facet," notes Louise Turner. It exhales warm grain, caramel, cocoa, soft tobacco and hay, with vanilla inflections running through it like a watermark. Fir balsam resinoid adds a resinous, balsamic depth, softened by a naturally caramelised note.
