An ode to springtime nature
If it were a sound, the crisp laughter of a bird. If it were a colour, the tender green of a spring bud. Carefree, joyful, candid, radiant. Muguet du Bonheur is an ode to the plant kingdom, to nature and to renewal.
An optimistic, carefree fragrance where the crystalline floral notes of a lily of the valley accord and the delicious scent of a fresh, juicy nashi pear. A true breath of fresh air.
A light and joyful fragrance
The fragrance opens with bright, sparkling citrus notes. Bergamot, mandarin and lime essences.
Then comes a larger-than-life pear. Crisp and sweet. Highlighted by a note of watermelon. The fruit’s botanical facet marries with the fresh, delicate notes of lily of the valley, recreated with rose essence from a For Life-certified source. Cedar, moss and patchouli create a chypre scent with a certain Parisian elegance.

More than a perfume, a story
In 1952, the House of CARON had the idea of capturing the scent of a sunny day. This 1st of May, it is launching a soliflore fragrance inspired by the tender, delicate scent of lily of the valley. A perfect gift for Parisians staying in the city. This treasure inspired Jean Jacques, CARON’s in-House perfumer. He has perpetuated the tradition and composed a light, joyful interpretation of Muguet du Bonheur.
Lily of the valley, a silent flower
In perfumery, the lily of the valley is said to be a ” silent flower “. This means it’s impossible to extract its aroma. Other white flowers fall into this category. These include sweet pea, gardenia and lilac. It’s up to the perfumer to make his or her own interpretation, recomposing the fragrance using other raw materials. This is what Jean Jacques, our perfumer, did with Muguet du Bonheur. He has completely recreated the powerful, crystalline scent of lily of the valley.
The lily of the valley tradition
Gifting a lily of the valley on the 1st of May brings good luck to its recipient. In 1561, Charles IX was the first to offer the ladies of the court a sprig of this flower, brought from Italy, as a gesture of good luck. Long confined to the aristocracy, this custom became popular in the early 1900s.
